Since 1919 the Vreugdenhil company has been in De Lier. It was started by Arie Vreugdenhil as a blacksmith in the middle of the  village high street. He was a well known blacksmith in De Lier and, next to his job as blacksmith, he also worked as a contractor. After a while he noticed the appearance of many competitors and decided to focus on tractors and farming equipment, leading to the move of Vreugdenhil Mechanisatie to the new location. See picture on the right: the Hoogweg in 1927 where a new barn was build next to the house.

Several years later sons Wim and Arie took over and continued the company until, in 1947, son Arie decided to leave and look for a new challenge. After his brother’s departure Wim Vreugdenhil build a bigger barn (see picture below from 1947). In 2000, after many years of selling and repairing tractors, Wim retired in favour of Arjo Vreugdenhil and his wife. In this new era Arjo added the sales of garden and park machines from the John Deere brand, both for private and business customers. For Arjo, too, came the moment that his son Rik joined the company. Since 2019 they’ve been running the company together and confidently look to the future. They discovered that there was still more space to add earth-moving to Vreugdenhil Mechanisatie. That’s why, since 2019, they’ve started repairing, selling, and renting articulated loaders of the Mustang and Gehl brand.

The accompanying picture of the generations of owners was taken in the fall of 2019 druing the diamond wedding jubilee celebrations of Wim and his wife Coba. In the fall of 2021 Wim passed away. Hopefully the next generation will join the company in the future: little Mik Jesse. “Welcome to Vreugdenhil Mechanisatie and we hope to help you find your equipment, aided by our many years of experience in the field of farming, earth-moving, garden and park machinery .
